A lady, who is currently a homemaker, was quoted in a broadsheet report:
" People in Singapore work so hard, like they are expected to work to death.  I remember once when I tried to leave the office on time at 6pm and people called me aclock-watcher.  The work culture here is poisoned"

I wonder if she knew she was being quoted, or if she was being quoted out of context.  Because that statement wouldn't sit very well with most bosses, I suppose, if she were to enter the workforce again.

But then again, why was she being called a "clock watcher" for leaving on time?  If employees do not leave on time, is it because the workload is too much, or that they are not able to manage their work efficiently during the official working hours, or that their work straddles different trading markets?
