I would never have imagine a book or research being done on the illustrations of fashion of a character from a book/books. But here it is: a book about Alice's fashion:
To be honest, I have never todate read any of the Alice in Wonderland books, and the only Alices I have seen are from the Disney cartoon version (blond Alice dressed in blue frock with white apron and a black ribbon hair band) and the Johnny Depp Mad Hatter version (where Alice is now a lanky teenagerish-looking female who has ditched the white apron). Thus I was quite surprised to learn that the illustrations of Alice had changed with the times since she first appeared during the Victorian era, which is interesting, because the fact the Alice's fashion has evolved with the times gives testement to her popularity through the ages and that illustrators do keep in mind the fashion of little girls according to the Zeitgeist of the times.
