Bought the KFC eggtarts to try. These are portuguese-styled eggtarts, with browned tops.
According to KFC's website, the eggtarts are "Smooth, creamy custard with light fluffy pastry…"
I agree with the smooth, creamy custard, and think the custard tastes better than those found in most confectionary, except for soytarts (like those better), but the pastry is anything but "light and fluffy". Biting into the pastry is like biting into something soaked in oil, with my lips emerging from the bite truely well-oiled.
Next time, I'll just scoop out the custard instead, but that will be a waste of the pastry.
