What the Greeks Did for Us | Tony Spawforth | Yale University Press

The bright fuchsia cover of this book caught my eye when it was on the shelf .  At 352 pages thick, it is not for the faint-hearted.  Yet it was surprisingly engrossing enough that I ploughed through it fairly quickly and painlessly.

Through 14 chapters covering various topics from wisdom to sports to facts and alternative facts, Spawforth wrote about how the ancient Greeks influence continues to loom big on today's world, whether in the background on right in front of us.

While I felt that this books was very readable for me, it does require some background knowledge about ancient Greece, be it the civilazation or the ancient Greek gods.  Else this book could really be Greek!
