Influenza The Hundred-Year Hunt to Cure the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic | Jeremy Brown | Simon & Schuster

The author Dr Jeremy Brown is an ER doctor and director of the Office of Emergency Care Research at the National Institutes of Health, and writes in a fairly down-to-earth that makes it easy for a layperson to read and understand this book.

Published in 2018, Dr Brown cites the terrifying 1918 Influenza as one that came rather without warning and left just as so.  He cautioned yet another pandemic which was so ironic because yet another terrifying virus the Covid-19 came rather without warning, and is still lurking amongst us after multiple mutations and yet, despite all our advances in medical sciences, man is still unable to identify the source and through which living organisms it had jumped species to humans.

Dr Brown's advice against over testing and over medication from previous influenza still rings true today.  Although in the 1st 2 years of Covid-19, people were testing themselves with ART test kits daily, it was for sure a must while the doctors suss out the virus' fatality.

Influenza should not be under-estimated and the likes of the 1918 version of the virus may one day return with a vengence.  Yet, after experiencing Covid-19, the question always is:  are governments and people ready for another pandemic?
