Das Erbe der großtante Hedwig translates as the inheritance of great aunt Hedwig, as is one of the books in the Lektüre in Bildern series published by PONS, and written by Ann Natalie Schmid.
Each Lektüre in Bildern book comprises about twenty short stories set in different regions of Deutschland. Ocassionally, some stories are set in der Schweiz and Osterreich. Each book is like an easy reader without Übungen at the end of each story, but with plenty of colorful photographs and short explanations of terms that may be a bit umfamiliar to DaF learners of a particular niveau.
The title of each book is that of one of the short stories in the book, which in this case is Das Erbe der großtante Hedwig. The theme of the short stories in this book is a twist with humour. I did not get the humour in all the stories, even after re-reading. Perhaps I need more work on Wortschartz!
Still I find the Lektüre in Bildern a helpful way to read and acquire Wortschatz.
