Had dinner at Ippudo, and of course the ramen is a must to try.
The ramen soup is the best I've tasted so far, although I wished the portion was larger.
The queuing system at Ippudo is strange, as the servers refused to seat customers unless everyone in the group was present. There was a snaking queue outside Ippudo, with wait staff from the other (rather empty) restaurants gazing on enviously.
We decided to share the rare cheesecake, not being sure how large or small it was, and all of us were full with soup and tea. The cheesecake is best shared, as it is rather large to eat by oneself after a hearty bowl of ramen soup. It has a slight tofu-y texture, and is thankfully not as rich as American cheesecakes.
We literally licked the plate clean with all the chocolate sauce scooped to accompany the cheesecake.
Eating ramen is never a delicate and refined activity: the best ramen has to be slurped noisily, and quickly, better if it is eaten at one of those tiny shops in the Eki. Still, the accoustics at Ippudo are terrible, and we literally had to shout across the table during our conversations, with our ears ringing as we left the noisy restaurant.
