Eating onboard Singapore Airlines [On the plane]

Having tried the Jain vegetarian meal on the previous flight, this time, the oriental vegetarian meal was picked.

The main consisted of white rice, carrots and green leafy vegetables and a type of fried vegetarian tofu which was crispy with the right level of saltiness.  Appetizer was fried tofu and different types of mushrooms.  Dessert was peach jelly.  Nothing exciting but easy on the palate.

International choice was chicken with potatos and carrots and broccoli for the main, a shrimp and pasta salad for appetizer, and Haagen Daaz ice-cream for desert.  The appetizer was interesting, wished the meal came with a slice of cake though.

Japanese selection came with hamburger steak with umeboshi-sprinkled rice with carrots and lady fingers.  Appetizer was a chawanmushi which did not come in a chawan and there was a side of green soba.  The umeboshi-sprinkled rice was a nice touch.

For the next oriental vegetarian meal, it was quite a laugh that there were all of 3 cashew nuts on the rice with mushrooms and green leafy vegetables.  I was beginning to detect a pattern of mushrooms in oriental vegetarian meals onboard Singapore Airlines.  The appetizer was a vinegarised 春雨salad which was a really good perk-me-up.  Dessert was some kind of 寒天jelly.  I was beginning to think that dessert for oriental vegetarian meals would be a plethora of jellies of different flavours!

Japanese selection was rice with fish, mushrooms and carrots.  Appetizer was roasted vegetables and there was a serving of somen.  Something interesting other than the usual soba!  While Japanese rice was used, it was not as delish as those eaten at ground level.  Perhaps multiple heating doesn't work for Japanese rice.

The international selection had some off pesto-covered chicken with risotto.  Something new, and quite unexpected from the catering at Haneda Airport.  Appetizer was edamame (!),  a slice of ham and tomatoes.  I thought the meal could come with something more as the tray seemed really really empty.
