Marxal Resort and Spa, Sheki [Aserbaidschan]

The Marxal Resort in Sheki, Azerbaijan is a biggish hotel located in the mountains in Sheki, with swimming pools, spas, sauna, turkish bath, sand room and salt room.  All of which I did not get to see.  The only areas I saw were my room, the breakfast area and the lobby.  Located in the mountains, the air at the hotel was clean and crisp, until some idiot decided to smoke.

This hotel is a very comfortable base from which to explore the Sheki Khan Palace (on the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list), which was interesting at the outside and impressive in the inside, especially if one is there at the right time.

Land is evidently not an issue at Sheki, for the twin room is large, and I mean comfortably large with a three-door wardroom (never seen a three-door one in previous hotels I've stayed at) and a really large bathroom.

The balcony door could be opened two ways: as a normal door, and twist the door handle in another direction and the door opens from the top, forming a large window that allows crisp mountain air into the room.

This hotel is not stingy with furniture too, with two chairs, a coffee table and even a little couch.

The primary customers of this hotel must be Arabs, for there was a bidet in the bathroom.  Despite the large size of the bathroom, the shower stall was strangely small in a corner, and had two sliding doors.
