Rotorua no longer smells as strongly as it did of sulphur compared to many years ago, and after the initial few minutes of stepping into my twin room at Sudima Hotel Lake Rotorua, I no longer discern the smell of sulphur.
Like other hotels in the Sudima Hotel group, this hotel is decently-sized with suitable furniture and a towel rack (!) by the sink in the bathroom, although the placement of the bin at the sink is a little odd.
My room oversees the older wing which seems now to be where the hotel staff stay.
Wall-to-ceiling glass at the breakfast area literally allows one to enjoy a beautiful sunrise at Lake Rotorua, if one is willing to rise early.
The hotel offers a Maori Cultural Show and Hangi experience, which was a little underwhelming for me. Which is not the performers' fault, it was just that I had been watching every night the 2024 Te Matatini.
