The Killer's Shopping List 살인자의 쇼핑목록 tvN

The Killer's Shopping List is a rather snappy 8 episode comedic-thriller released in 2022.  It started off a little unpromising in what appears to be a little store in I guess what is the equivalent of the Taisho era in South Korea, where a little boy halted a counterfeiter.  After he grew up, the little store that his mother ran grew into a supermarket, where staff were funnily named after the sections they worked at.  So there was Veggies, Meat, Fish, Product and a part-timer who surprisingly appears to be working the same full shifts as the other full-timers.

The drama somehow morphed into a search for the serial murderer in the neighbourhood while the male lead became the suspect.  All the loose ends were tied up rather hastily in the last episode although breadcumbs as to who the murderer was was scattered throughout the screenplay.

Still, The Killer's Shopping List was edited snappily enough for the draggy parts and the pointless side-plots not to feel distracting.  I liked that almost all the staff at the supermarket had their own story arcs which made them seem less like background characters in some other dramas.

What I thought was a little laziness on the part of the production team was the little girl and female casted as the murderer's daughter and wife.  For a child of mixed parentage, she looked too much like a korean, and I wonder why a Filipino actresses was casted as a Vietnamese?
