Taipei Fullerton Hotel Maison North

In order not to have to wake up too early to catch a mid-morning flight from Songshan airport, it was decided to stay as possibly close to Songshan airport as possible.  After using google map to check the surroundings of metro stations one station away from Songshan airport, Taipei Fullerton Hotel Maison North was picked.  There were no hotels surrounding Dazshi station, so it came to choosing a hotel at Jhongshan Guojhong station.

It was about 5 minutes walk from Jhongshan Guojhong station, with plenty of food options along the main street and tucked away in Jinjhou street - eating dinner there everynight would not be an issue becaused there are simply so many options.

The hotel offered 7 types of rooms, only one of them being twin rooms, the others containing only either a king or queen double bed.  Strangely there is only one twin room on each floor.

The cheapest double room that came with a window had quite an odd layout.  In the sleeping area, there was a queen double bed and a longish sofa - really useful for clothes and bags or simply louging about.  There was no window in the sleeping area.

The bathroom was strangely huge, with window lining one entire length of the bathroom.  Instead of a door, a sliding door separates the bathroom from the sleeping area.  The bathroom was so huge, it contained a free-standing bathtub, a separate shower area with curved doors, a vanity area, a cupboard - this is the first time I've seen a cupboard placed in the bathroom, and a separate area just for the toto washlet.  Initially I could not find the toilet  - it was behind the golden wall next to the bathtub.

The twin room was large, and I thought the single bed was perhaps three-quarters of the size of a queen double bed.

The bathroom was comfortably large with well-located hooks and it does seem like much thought went into where towels and clothes could be placed.

The price of a room included breakfast, tea and coffee - nespresso machine, and the mini-bar.  While the price is not low, the quality of the breakfast was rather good, with six choices of main courses in addition to the buffet spread.  Newspapers were provided everyday and the mini-bar topped up daily as well.  In terms of quality and value for money, this Hotel is certainly a front-runner.  It certainly beats pricer international hotel chains and I have no complaints about it.

The next time I need to fly from Songshan airport, I would most certainly choose to stay here again.
