This is one in a series of books most likely written for young children to learn about Singapore history through stamps. The prose was simple and not much elaboration was given, beyond stating straight-forward facts.
What I found fascinating was that during Malayan times, each Malayan state had its own stamp with the state's name beneath "Malaya". Thus having a full collection of QE2's coronation stamp issued in 1953 would mean having to make sure all the Malayan states were accounted for. I wonder if the full set could be purchased back then at the Post Office of any of the states, or that stamps labelled Johore could only be purchased at the Post Offices in Johore and not at Post Offices at the other states. That would certainly entail a lot of effort for stamp collectors back then.
An interesting fact was that Singapore used to celebrate its National Day in June during 1960 - 1963, when it was a self-governing state, before it became an independent state.
