Finally got my hands on the 1st episode of Jirisan, promoted as tvN's 15th Anniversary Special Drama in 2021.
The opening sequence jumped straight into a search and rescue mission for a missing teenage hiker in Jirisan (which is real, by the way), depicting how rangers conduct their work, even in the face of an approaching typhoon.
There were great shots of Jirisan, and reliable performances from familiar faces whose names I can now match to their faces: Ju Ji-hoon, Sung Dong-il, Oh Jung-se and other familiar faces but I can't match their names to their faces for now, only to characters in their previous dramas:
The ranger: whose wife tried to kill him for his inheritance in Memorist.
Chief of the rangers: the corrupt cop in Watcher.
Seo Yi-gang's grandmother: Oh Bong-yi's grandmother in Mouse.
There seems to be some supernatural element where Ju Ji-hoon's character could "see" where missing teenager was, and thankfully the time jump was managed quite clearly without too much confusion.
Hopefully the script is a good one, and does not turn out to be a dud like Hometown.
