I went to a restaurant specializing in charcoal-grilled unagi and ordered a Wagyu Don Teishoku instead.
Other than Wagyu Don Teishoku, the restaurant offered non-Unagi dishes such as Chirashi Don Teishoku and Yasai Tendon Teishoku, so that a family or a group of friends can still eat at the same place without all being compelled to eat unagi.
My Wagyu Don Teishoku came accompanied by an onsen tamago on the bed of wagyu, pickles, a salad and a soup.
The dish containing the Wagyu Don was quite deceptive. It was a rather deep dish with slices of wagyu on top of very nice niigata rice. The wagyu and rice were good, however the surprise for this meal was for me the soup. It wasn't the typical miso soup but a very light kombu soup with citrus peel added in. It was unusually refreshing and feels so much lighter than a typically miso soup.
