Idiosyncrasies of the Brits at work

One of the most amusing adjustments for expats arriving in a British office is the ritual of tea and biscuits. (Read the full article at BBC here)


I had to continue reading Mark Johnson's article after the first sentence.  What some people take for granted as social and cultural norms may appear utterly baffling to another, despite them hailing from the same ancestry thousands of years ago.

I drink tea, but I prefer mine straight, so as not to allow milk to mask the fragrance of the tea leaves, and to cut down on sugary calories.  Shortbread, chocolate bourbons and flapjacks are of course highly welcomed, but they obviously eat into whatever meagre amount I have to make do with.
