Surrogates

Surrogates,  sci-fic film based on the comic book series Surrogates between 2005 and 2006 held great promise by virtue of the theme.

In the future, humans no longer venture out of their rooms.  Instead, interaction is done via their andriod surrogate robots which were young, fit and wrinkleless.  Save and secure in their rooms, through a system, humans controlled the every move of their andriod robots.

The creator of the andriod system, felt the surrogates were a form of drugs from which he must release humans from.  A weapon, which not only disabled the surrogates but also their operators (humans) was invented to destroy people.  Bruce Willis' character stopped the killing, but the surrogates were infected with a virus which rendered them useless.  On the streets, all the surrogates started falling down, and real humans began to descend from the buildings in their house clothes, looking bewildered at the bodies littering the streets.

Surrogacy may perhaps materialise in times to come, seeing that humans are now interacting via avatars and what-nots through the internet.
